CHARLOTTE SEARLE
“I have vague memories like impressions on glass plates” - Patti Smith

Our memories embossed
A faint impression on frosted glass, muddled broken and stuck back together with my tape
Each retelling slightly altered,
Each retelling of retelling amplified or diminished
Like tape, every rerecording, every glitch creating new
Rewritten and facilitated by my fiction, an obsessive narrative to configure lack
Nothingness

Whose memories to retell, whose authorship is lost
document now becomes flimsy
Linear language of linear stories to export my PDF to all the clouds
When the memory died, lamentation laid bare on fragmented form, body
Expelled from those who will sip from a simulation of pleasure
I will interrogate pleasure, I will lick it through screen
Drunken pixels free to create new,
safe from our memories
My woven phallus oh how I will bow
Knitted fragments will submit to your infection

Expect a knitted, pixelated ritual that cherishes the naff and kitsch. A refusal to stop playing and stop obsessing with the surrounding mythical landscape of Cornwall. I will allow poetic visuals and language to explore the unconscious, touching on themes of myth, dream and sexual power dynamics within the medium of film.
