William Trewartha-Jones

For a few years now my work has been centred around the medium of graphite powder on Ampersand claybord. With this medium I am able to create immediately compelling textures and atmospheres that my illustrations can sit within. I often lean towards. I am concerned with imagery that is wholly organic and reflects a sense of fragility, be it physical, emotional, or existential. While this is never intentional, I feel these elements are consistent throughout my practice, often manifesting as scenes of tragedy or depictions of distorted figures. My current project is a response to the 2019 Amazon Wildfires and the feelings of environmental anguish that arise after massive ecological loss.
