My work is concerned with finding sanctuary during the pandemic; safe areas, away from people. These are meditative spaces, to gain perspective and reflect on priorities. ‘Lunar Sea’ is one such place, where the ebbing and flowing from the lunar cycle reaffirms a natural rhythm in life, which Covid has so severely interrupted. The sea featured large in my seaside upbringing, with a family deckchair business and my father a fisherman. So the draw back to the beach and ocean in times of uncertainty is partly a regression to a carefree time of safety and security.
