My relationship with the landscape is an important part of my practice. As my practice has developed the beach has become my studio. My main source of inspiration is the sea. Within my current body of work I am aiming to communicate the brutality of nature, submersion, vulnerability and the sublime.These themes are echoed through my painting process and the scale of the final outcomes. The sea makes me feel vulnerable and I always think about how that translates into my work. I have taken a step back as an artist and have allowed the sea to determine the outcome of my paintings. Submerging large amounts of canvas in the sea and pouring pigment onto its surface allows me to record its physical movements.
