Neal Johnston draws influence from an eclectic and wide range of sources. His primary expression stems from his very open ended, explorative use of photography as a means of action, and non action storytelling. He is presenting the viewer with thoughtful and romantic views. Of wild, uninterrupted, traditional / natural landscapes. And he is questioning a persons interaction and connection to their lived in environment. Perhaps the place they are currently living in. A past, inherited place they once called home. Or, a future ideal of an imagined - preferred place. These are all recognizable recurring themes in his work.
